Plastic Wrap Nail Art

I spent this weekend playing around with some saran wrap nail designs.  I am a member of a Facebook nail art group and this weeks challenge was plastic wrap art.  This method can be done in many ways.  I started with a gel polish base of Gelish Mint of Spring, this in my favorite gel polish shade!  It is a bright springy green perfect even by itself.  I chose several Essie and Zoya shades that complimented each other for this mani.  I dapped each of the colors on the nail and then balled up a small piece of plastic wrap to gently dab to mush the colors together.  I then repeated with a second coat and dabbed again.  The result was splotchy and perfect!  I finished with 2 layers of topcoat so there was no more "texture" left.  I made a nail art decal using a butterfly stamp that I painted in and then applied to the nail afterwards.  I will post a tutorial on homemade nail art decals soon!  This was my first attempt so I wasn't sure if I could get it, but it was easy.  I love the way this turned out I hope I win this weeks challenge, if not it is fun to see what everyone else came up with as well.

Essie Vested Interest and Cashmere Bathrobe

Well, the Camo nails didn't last long I had to go back to work and look professional haha :)  I decided to give another one of my fall greens a try and I knew it would be my favorite and it is!  Vested Interest is from the Essie Fall 2013 line and available at Target, Ulta or of course Ebay/Amazon.  Vested Interest is a deep smokey green cream with no shimmer or glitter, its very classy!  I also used another Fall Essie color Cashmere Bathrobe for the grey accent nail, Cashmere bathrobe is a gorgeous dark grey with micro glitter in it.  I added a layer of grey hex glitter called Glitter to the End from the Sephora by OPI line.  Did you pick up any of the fall Essie shades?  I bought the mini bottles and got 4/6 of the shades and I love everyone of them:  Essie Fall Mini Cube

FALL GREENS

This is a triple polish post.  I love fall greens and have lots of new ones to try this fall!  I thought I would swatch a few of them tonight and here is what they look like!  I usually put a gel polish base under my manicures for a few reasons.  Mainly, it makes my nails strong and I am able to wear it for a week or two and then paint regular polishes over it and use non acetone to remove it.  I knew I wanted to try some of my new fall green shades this week so I put Gelish Runway for the Money as my base coat.  I picked up this shade recently at the Sally Beauty clearance for only $2.50 and its a great base color for lots of fall shades, or nice on its own.  I used 3 coats and finished with Gelish Top it Off.

I tried a few other greens tonight as well.  I used the new Maybelline Vintage Leather 875 Mod Moss and Maybelline color show Twilight Rays as an accent nail in the bottom pics.  Twilight Rays is a dark greenish black with gold and green flecks, its hard to photograph but gorgeous in person!  This is the second Vintage Leather polish I have tried and I really like them.  I only used one coat and you can see the flecks of matte "glitter" in there as well!  The finish is ultra matte a nice change to the classic shiny topcoats.  I can't wait to try some other new greens this week as well, stay posted!

Here is what I ended with to wear for the weekend Zoya Hunter with Essie Beyond Cozy accent nail.  Zoya hunter is a perfect fall green, deep and rich.  What Fall greens are you going to try out soon or what are your go to favorites?

Essie For The Twill Of It

Today I tried out my new bottle of the Essie Fall 2013 shade FOR THE TWILL OF IT.  It is a grey/purple/blue/green duo chrome that is a shade shifter!  I think this is a universally great shade for anyone and it goes with lots of different outfits!  I tried an accent nail with Julep Clio from the Champagne Trio.  On a side note I had some ladies over from work this weekend and the Champagne trio was a popular choice for manicure Monday in my house!  The shades were gorgeous.  I am really loving this combo and plan to wear it a few times this fall, which is saying a lot!  ( I have a problem with only wearing colors once :)  What do you think of For the Twill of It?  You can pick it up right now at Ulta, Target or of course Amazon for msrp of $8.  I included lot of pics due to the shifting colors!

I bought the set of 4 mini bottles of the Fall shades to try a little of everything!

China Glaze Its a Trap-Eze

I am officially on a 10 day vacation from work.  You know what that means?  I am free to try some fun and funky nail polishes!  I recently ordered a bottle of China Glaze Its a Trap-Eze.  I thought the multi colored glitter in a creamy milky colored base would go perfect with so many different things.  It probably would be great as a accent nail color but I went a little crazy with it!  I layered it over Essie The Lace Is On (purple) and Essie The More the Merrier (green).  This look is with only 1 coat of Its a Trap-Eze, the glitter payoff is amazing!  You can see white, blue, purple, yellow, green, magenta, red and pink glitter in this one!  Of coarse I broke a few nails this week, please ignore the lengths :)  I love the look of the polish, but think next time I will try it over a white base.  What do you think of this glitter bomb?
