Plastic Wrap Nail Art

I spent this weekend playing around with some saran wrap nail designs.  I am a member of a Facebook nail art group and this weeks challenge was plastic wrap art.  This method can be done in many ways.  I started with a gel polish base of Gelish Mint of Spring, this in my favorite gel polish shade!  It is a bright springy green perfect even by itself.  I chose several Essie and Zoya shades that complimented each other for this mani.  I dapped each of the colors on the nail and then balled up a small piece of plastic wrap to gently dab to mush the colors together.  I then repeated with a second coat and dabbed again.  The result was splotchy and perfect!  I finished with 2 layers of topcoat so there was no more "texture" left.  I made a nail art decal using a butterfly stamp that I painted in and then applied to the nail afterwards.  I will post a tutorial on homemade nail art decals soon!  This was my first attempt so I wasn't sure if I could get it, but it was easy.  I love the way this turned out I hope I win this weeks challenge, if not it is fun to see what everyone else came up with as well.

Gelish A Touch of Sass

Today I have another Fall Gelish shade from the Under Her Spell Collection:  A Touch of Sass.  Once I saw the name of course I had to try it ;).  You can pick this up at Sally in the mini size .3fl oz or Ebay or Amazon in the full size .5fl oz bottle.  A Touch of Sass is a deep blood red, perfect for fall.  Reds and pinks are the colors I pick out the least due to skin tone issues, but this one is perfect.  This is the first red shade I have liked in a long time, it is very rich and not pink or orange toned at all!  The formula was nice and thin (not a fan of the thick and goopy gelish shades), I used three coats.  You can see some streaking in the photos due to the flash, but in person they are not that obvious.  I will wear this cream shade for a few days and then try some fun nail art and additions to the shade.  Did you pick up A Touch of Sass this Fall?

Polish TBH Chocolate Frogs

Polish TBH (Indie brand)  has a Harry Potter line of polishes I came across on Facebook this week!  I had to have Chocolate Frogs.  This is a gorgeous brown shade with gold, orange, and navy blue, and green glitter of various sizes.  It is currently sold out, but keep checking here for restocks:  Chocolate Frogs.  I used four coat's of Gelish Double Shot Espresso as a base layer (very thin polish).  I really liked this shade of the Gelish polish, I can't wait to try more nail art with this brown color.  I also used my Konad stamper and Bundle Monster plate BM-213 to create some fun accents.  I used a rose gold, orange and a navy blue polish and stamped a triangle pattern to match my Chocolate Frog's glitter.  I think it came out great, perfect for the fall!  Are you going to pick up any of these Harry Potter colors?  I also have my eye on Sorcerer's Stone when it gets restocked!

Gelish My Nightly Craving

Tonight I tried another one of the new Gelish Under Her Spell Shades, My Nightly Craving.  This shade is a mauve/lavender creme hue.  I used three coats, and I must say the formula in this gelish line is greatly improved from the thick and goopy spring shades.  I used Julep Clio as an accent glitter gradient.  I think this shade would be lovely on most people, however with my skin tone I don't care for it.  You win some and lose some!  I will stick with the gorgeous Gelish Lust at First Site for my fall purple shade of choice.  What do you think of My Nightly Craving?

FALL GREENS

This is a triple polish post.  I love fall greens and have lots of new ones to try this fall!  I thought I would swatch a few of them tonight and here is what they look like!  I usually put a gel polish base under my manicures for a few reasons.  Mainly, it makes my nails strong and I am able to wear it for a week or two and then paint regular polishes over it and use non acetone to remove it.  I knew I wanted to try some of my new fall green shades this week so I put Gelish Runway for the Money as my base coat.  I picked up this shade recently at the Sally Beauty clearance for only $2.50 and its a great base color for lots of fall shades, or nice on its own.  I used 3 coats and finished with Gelish Top it Off.

I tried a few other greens tonight as well.  I used the new Maybelline Vintage Leather 875 Mod Moss and Maybelline color show Twilight Rays as an accent nail in the bottom pics.  Twilight Rays is a dark greenish black with gold and green flecks, its hard to photograph but gorgeous in person!  This is the second Vintage Leather polish I have tried and I really like them.  I only used one coat and you can see the flecks of matte "glitter" in there as well!  The finish is ultra matte a nice change to the classic shiny topcoats.  I can't wait to try some other new greens this week as well, stay posted!

Here is what I ended with to wear for the weekend Zoya Hunter with Essie Beyond Cozy accent nail.  Zoya hunter is a perfect fall green, deep and rich.  What Fall greens are you going to try out soon or what are your go to favorites?

Gelish Lust at First Sight

I finally made it to Sally to pick up some new fall Gelish shades!  Gelish Under Her Spell is the new collection of 6 shades sold at Sally or on Amazon or Ebay.  I picked up 4 of the new colors they were on sale for $10 a .3 oz bottle until August 31st.  I had to try my favorite first Lust At First Sight.  It is a beautiful smoky purple.  I used 1 coat of Gelish Foundation, 3 coats of Lust at First Sight, and 1 coat of Gelish Top it Off.  I love how it turned out!  I completed the look with a Julep Clio accent nail.  Can't wait to try all of the fall shades, but at least for this week I am keeping this one on!  What do you think of the new fall Gelish shades?

If you pick up a bottle at Sally's they are $10 on sale or regular $13.95 for Beauty club members for a mini .3 oz bottle.  As always you can buy a .5 oz bottle on the internet for a similar price usually $12-14 with shipping!
